>There was a time when the American people understood, that government and the services we demanded from our government, had to be paid for, and we taxed ourselves for those costs.
There was a time when capitalism and capitalists understood, that they owed a responsibility to the society that they were operating within.
There was a time when Americans cared about, and were willing to pay taxes, to ensure the health and welfare of their fellow countrymen.
There was a time when communal taxation was used to better America and its people.
There was a time when corporations were responsive to the needs and complaints of their customers.
There was a time when compromise in Washington meant no one was happy, but bills passed did enhance the American society.
There was a time when we understood, that a thriving middle class was the key to our country’s growth and security.
There was a time when American military might, was used to suppress oppressive and aggressive forces trying to control, or destroy humans.
Those were the times when America was a great country. Those times are gone.
It was the Republican policies of the last 30 years, that changed it all.
Are we better off now, than we were 30 years ago? If you look at the important factors; I don’t understand those who are happier now with our situation as a society, than our situation as a society before the Regan revolution.
What is our motivation now; for war policy, tax policy, and the help we offer our fellow citizens through our government?
I won’t be around to pay the price of the failed policies of the last 30 years, and shame on this generation for believing, thinking, and voting for this change in the American character.

>Good to see you again Tom. We truly are on the eve of destruction. Hate your next door neighbor. But don't forget to say grace…
>Hi Tom, you have been missed!I don't like doom and gloom talk, I don't want to believe we are on the eve of destruction. We are America and we will overcome the evil that presides over us at this hour. Take heart oh good people, we will over come!
>Tom! Good to hear from you again!Lets not blame the republicans for everything; the democrats have done very well for themselves selling us the same ol' bullshit…Progressives are stupid idealists…Yep, democrats play the game to win and nothing has any value anymore except power.
>Thanks all,I don't consider myself a doom and gloomer, but given the reality of the situation, we should not stick our heads in the ground and ignore the dire truth. Although, the sicker I get, the less hope I have that the country will figure its way out of this mess.Of course Democrats are also responsible, especially with the policies of President Obama, which I grow to disagree with more and more everyday.Yet, It is the Republicans which are responsible for this huge debt. It is the huge debt, which makes our situation different from other intractable politicle situations in the past.Capitalism no longer works to pull our society out of temporary financial crisis. That's what we depended on in past recessions. We have not progressed at all, if a war, or government social programs are our only thinking for getting out of a financial crisis. Old thinking. As the quote from President Kennedy (front right on my home blog page) states: we count on political opposition to at least have the goals of liberty and freedom in common, to compromise for the betterment of the American people. That attitude is no where to be scene. Seems the Republicans are willing to burn the process, to be politically pure, and that is a dangerous mistake, not to mention a delusion. The people keep voting for these Republicans, so the fault lies with the majority of the people, who mistakenly (my opinion) believe, that their selfish interests are best for the future health of America. The facts are clear, these political p[olicies are bad for America. HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL MY READERS !I will try to post more.BY
>Tom: I sometimes feel despondent but I refuse to lose all hope. Without hope, what’s left? But you are right, people need to get their heads out of the sand, yet I do believe more and more are doing just that. So, let’s “hope” that will be the key to our country’s salvation!
